چکیده

Abstract Diminished reproduction success in species with narrow distribution ranges might be one of the factors responsible for their limited dispersal and colonization abilities. We investigated here various aspects seed biology West Carpathian endemic Daphne arbuscula (Thymelaeaceae) compared it its more widespread relative D. cneorum . In both species, we (i) differences viability germination ability; (ii) between two observed fruit morphotype groups, (iii) effect cold stratification breaking dormancy enhance stored seeds. To determine viability, a tetrazolium test an imbibed cut were performed. Several tests gibberellic acid sequence warm stratification, using different temperatures durations, carried out. uncovered that seeds show significantly lower than seeds, but this difference is due to smaller-fruit morphotype; quality big-fruit are greater although latter not null level seems differ them; at 15°C 13 weeks, followed by either 0 or 5°C 28 4 weeks 15°C, break physiological allow majority (63%) germinate. recommend including morphotypes when collecting ex situ conservation reintroduction initiatives, maintain original genetic diversity species.

HPLC Analysis, antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of Daphne cneorum L

The present study describes in vitro antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of methanol extracts obtained from the leaves and twigs of the plant Daphne cneorum L. The antimicrobial activity of these extracts was tested against human pathogenic microorganisms using a minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) values. Total phenolics and flavonoids, as well as the antioxidant activity of the extrac...

Development and evaluation of microsatellite markers for the gynodioecious shrub Daphne jezoensis (Thymelaeaceae)1

UNLABELLED PREMISE OF THE STUDY Ten microsatellite markers were developed and characterized in a gynodioecious summer-deciduous shrub, Daphne jezoensis, to facilitate studies of the evolution of gynodioecy in the species. • METHODS AND RESULTS We used a next-generation sequencing approach with the Ion Personal Genome Machine (PGM) system to identify and develop microsatellite markers with ...

Herbivores do not discriminate between leaves of female and hermaphrodite individuals of gynodioecious Daphne laureola (Thymelaeaceae)

The outcome of plant-animal interactions in dioecious plant species frequently depends on the gender of the plant individuals. It has even been proposed that these interactions could mediate the evolution of plant reproductive systems from hermaphroditism to dioecy. Gynodioecy is the most frequent intermediate stage in this evolutionary process, however, little is known about the relevance of g...

A myeloma is an abnormal proliferation of plasma cells derived from reticulum cells (Innes and Newall, 1961). Four types are usually differentiated: multiple myeloma when tumours are scattered through the skeleton; solitary myeloma or plasmacytoma when the lesion is localized to a single focus in a bone; extramedullary plasmacytoma when the lesion is found in extraosseous sites such as the uppe...

Allelopathic Effects of Amygdalus scoparia, Daphne mezereum, and Ebenus stellata on Seed Germination Percentage of Important Under-Floor Species

Introduction: Allelopathy refers to the plants’ mutual biochemical effects. Despite their significant role in improving and restoring Iranian rangelands, the plants’ allelopathic effects on each other have often been neglected in rangeland seeding. Scholars argue that in stressful conditions of the arid areas caused by low precipitation, the effects of metabolic chemicals secreted by allelochem...
